The Flight & my host family

The Flight:

I stood up at 3am on Thursday 22nd August. So it was pretty early but I couldn't sleep any longer anyway, so it was okay.
I got ready and then my parents, my grandma and I drove to the Hamburg airport. I was really nervous and excited the whole car drive, but it got better. I checked in and got my tickets. The there was the big goodbye, I didn't cried as much as I thought. Afterwards I went through security.
At 8am was sitting in the plane ready to take off. About an hour later we arrived in Frankfurt and searched for gate Z62 it was a loooooong way. But we had got 4 hours time to get there :D
The time goes by really fast, we got something to eat from McDonald's and than the YFU guys came an they started to board the people into the plane.
I had got a relly nice seat. I sat in the back next to a girl from YFU. From then on 9 hours up in the air. It was boring. I couldn't concentrate o a movie or sleep. So spend all the time listening to music, talking to the girl next to me or reading.

When we arrived in Washington D.C. it was about 3.30pm a we only had to go through passport control and duty.
Everyone was really happy to go to the hotel or to meet their host family but then there was a super long line, where we stand in like 2 hours. After that we went to pick up our suitcases, but they weren't there. Everyone began to panic. Luckily we found them later :D

The YFU staff drove us to our hotel. The Hampton Inn. They also ordered pizza for us, but no one was really hungry, we were just really tired.
I'll skip the part with the hotel rooms and all that stuff.

So on the next morning I woke up at 4am and got ready, we drove back to the airport and checked in again this time it was more difficult, 'cause United Airlines are really strict.
We went to our gate and waited, till we could go on board. The plane was really small, but it was okay because the flight wasn't that long.

Host family and other stuff:

We landed in Detroit and got out of the plane. Two girls had to take another flight and the other ones, including me, went down to get are suitcases. My host family was standing where I would pick up my suitcase. It was really cool. After I got my suitcase we went to the car and drove to Coney Island and eat something.

Later that day we also went to the pool and to KFC to get dinner.

I am wearing the Shirt that I got from my friends :)

Today wen went to the dance school and I auditioned for the Nutcracker, actually it was really hard.

I don't know when I'll upload again. It could take some time, because everything is really excited.

  3. Welcome, Tessa, to America! I hope you are successful in your audition for The Nutcracker and that you are getting settled in. Michigan is a beautiful state, even if it is full of Wolverines. You'll have to ask Jeff what that means. Go Bucks! (You will understand this more in November.) I am looking forward to your future posts.
